Steamy High Collars

Long time since writing. But I am so excited about the latest projects I've been working on. In preparation for the World Steampunk Expo in Deerborne, MI this upcoming May, I have been doing a lot of Steampunk. I bring you knitted high collared Victorian style neck warmers. The pattern was really easy to follow and I actually was able to complete about 3 in only a couple days and that was all while watching my very active 9 month old.

Lots of color combinations to choose from, I did a grey/charcoal combination as well as cream and pink. I will be working on some in blacks and browns to come. If there is a color you are interested in let me know. I would imagine that it would be fairly easy to add embellishments like buttons, or even some simple embroidery to make yours unique as well. Hope you enjoy.

Recent Scarves

Ok, not quite the season for scarves yet, but I figured I'd get a head start on them. Made with wool, but not the scratchy kind. Beautiful jeweled colors. Vibrant and lacy. I love the last one, it's so rich with metallic shimmer peeking out all throughout. $15

Spa Treatments

Ladies, we all could use some pampering now and then, but many of us just don't have the time. Here's some little luxuries that will relax and put you at ease. The bath salts are lavender and chamomile and the loofa is made of 100% cotton.

Nerdy Little Dishcloths, Featuring Dr. Who

I've been watching a ton of "Dr. Who" lately, as well as "Torchwood." So I decided next on my knitting to-do list would be a tribute of sorts. Behold the Tardis dishcloth, and a Dalek. Perfect gifts for those sci-fi buffs in your life. Almost makes you want to do the dishes! ... or think about jumping time and space while doing them.

Progress and Projects!

Yippee!! I just ordered business cards from vistaprint. And my etsy site is up and running! Here is my first listing of a market bag I was working on. Cool thing about this it's made of plastic bags as well as yarn. Love it, would definitely like to sell it, and make another one. Here's my site

Egg Drop Soup ^_^

Ever since I was little my favorite soup in the whole wide world was Egg Drop Soup. And happy day a few months ago I found a great recipe that I altered to taste... plus it's super easy... plus plus there's a couple things you can do to change up the taste that still makes it gluten free. You hear that, GLUTEN FREE! Ok, here goes.

Ingredients:
2 (14.5) cans of chicken broth
1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
3 Eggs (beaten)
Sesame Seed Oil

Directions:
1. In a medium stock pot pour the chicken broth and cornstarch over medium heat. Stir continuously to break up the cornstarch. Drizzle a bit of Sesame Seed Oil in the broth (this will give it the classic Asian taste). Bring to a boil.
You can add seasonings at this point, Minced onion is good; Italian Seasoning for a change, salt, pepper, you get the idea.
2. Stir in the beaten egg. Keep stirring the egg in to break it up for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.  Done!
Ok, garnishes... Traditionally chopped green onions/scallions is used.
One thing I found is delicious is to break up a package of raman noodles (break it horizontal and vertical while still closed so it's less of a mess), and let the noodles set in the soup for a few minutes for them to get soft, but don't let it go too long (like overnight), or the noodles will break up.
The gluten free option for that is to use rice noodles.

Hope you enjoy!

Intro and Update

Hey guys,

Here we are up in the UP, getting settled. I figured now was as good of time as ever to start a blog and keep everyone updated on projects, recipes, news, and all that jazz. So I'm not working quite yet, so I'm hoping to get a bunch of things made up to try to sell them up here. In the meantime, we're staying with a Chinese room mate and a Japanese room mate, and there's a South Korean that comes over occasionally. Maybe I can learn how to be Asian through this experience. ^_^  More to come. Cheers!
